Fraction codes
Tree species in combination with fraction code
Each fraction is always related to a specific tree species. This means, if a trap contains litterfall from several tree species, then the same fraction category can be analysed and submitted separately for each tree species.
It often happens - especially with secondary tree species - that different tree species are mixed into one sample in order to achieve the minimum required sample size. In such cases, the tree species 888 is usually specified (= ‘all species’).
However, it may be the case that one or more secondary tree species are analysed and submitted individually, and only the remaining other secondary tree species are mixed. In this case, the tree species 555 can be specified for the mixed group to make it clear that not all secondary tree species are included here (= ‘Rest of secondary tree species’).
